We all have bad days. They come more often then we like, and they sometimes stay longer than we want. But, there is a way to make a bad day a better day. This is what the Lord is teaching us at New Heights.

We are learning we need to become better forgivers, better helpers, be more aware of peoples feelings around us, and we realize we can be sure of some powerful truths.

I love this passage of scripture:

Hebrews 12:2closeHebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (ESV) closeHebrews 12:2closeHebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (ESV) looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (ESV) Message “Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed–that exhilarating finish in and with God–he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.”

Jesus kept his focus, and when we face hard times, we need to keep our focus on Him.

When we face a bad day, we need to remind ourselves that God is always there, Jesus is never late, His way is best, and Jesus truly cares for us.

Sometimes, we feel (by the way—feelings can be deceptive at times) we are ALL ALONE, Jesus is LATE, my way is better, or Jesus does not really care about me…in those dark moments…you need to remind yourself the Word of God.

Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! (ESV)

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”

And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened. neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

LB “This plan of mine is not what you would work out, neither are my thoughts the same as yours! For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than yours, and my thoughts than yours.”

James 5:10-11closeJames 5:10-11 10 As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail”

I hope to see you this Sunday at 10am.
